Saturday 17th December saw 7 ladies with TS enjoying Peter Pan at the New Theatre, Cardiff.

We all met up at Cardiff Central train station and said our hellos over a coffee.  After which we decamped to Pizza Express for some lunch.  Emma Fitzpatrick very kindly reserved a table for us.  As it was only just over a week before Christmas Cardiff was very busy this made getting some lunch a painless experience – thank you Emma!  After enjoying Pizza, pudding and the opportunity to catch up we managed to have a quick look at the Christmas market stalls.  Personally I thought that it was very small compared with say Birmingham or Manchester but enjoyable nonetheless.  There was a lovely Christmas vibe going on which served well to get us in the panto mood.

We got to the New Theatre and found our seats in the upper circle – note to self – look at options of hiring a private box next time!  We settled down to enjoy the show after taking the obligatory selfies first of course!

Well what a show it was!  From start to finish it was full of laughs, songs, dances and some good old fashion interaction with the audience.  David Hasselhoff was excellent as Captain Hook, Mike Doyle was hilarious as Mrs Smee, even getting the audience to rap along every time she came on stage!  Peter Pan was played brilliantly by Matthew Chase.  In fact without exception the whole cast where amazing and put on a thoroughly enjoyable show.

The show ended with two little ones going up on stage with Mrs Smee to help out with the final song which was from the Angry Birds movie.  This turned into a competition between two sides of the audience – it of course ended up be being declared a draw.

Once the show finished we made our way out of the theatre and dropped two of our party at the bus stop to head home.  Two other ladies where staying right by the train station and Sasha decided to join them for something to eat which left myself and Nickki making our way to the train station to head home, exhausted but very happy having enjoyed a great day with some great company watching a great panto.

Spa weekend

The weekend of 17th/18th June saw 7 ladies enjoy a Spa weekend at The Lions Quay Hotel & Spa, situated alongside the picturesque Llangollen Canal in the beautiful Shropshire Countryside.

I met three of the group at Gobowen station a short 5 minute drive away from the hotel where we met up with the other three and our weekend started in earnest.

We checked into the hotel and settled into our rooms which were very spacious and clean and comfortable.

I texted Jim to say how big the TV was!

After showering and putting our glad rags on ready for the evening entertainment we went downstairs to enjoy a glass of wine before heading to the restaurant to enjoy a complimentary glass of bubbly.  The room was decked out really well with lots of fairy lights giving the room a great atmosphere before we even started.  The set menu was lovely and the 4 bottles of house wine made the evening go with a swing!

The Freddie Mercury tribute act was brilliant.  He was fantastic and got everyone up dancing and joining in and did all the old favourites ably helped out by us all!  Don’t stop me know got us up dancing!  Our table were leading the dancing that night by getting up at the beginning and still going strong at the end!

We were one of the last groups to leave and went off to bed really tired but having had a brilliant evening.

The next morning we met up and had a buffet style breakfast. We were greeted outside in the courtyard by the resident peacock showing off!  I really couldn’t think of anything that the hotel hadn’t supplied that you might want for breakfast!  Then it was back to the room to get our things together ready for a day of pampering.   The snow cave in particular was met with lots of oohing and rrrring  We spent some time in the large Jacuzzi and also did a few lengths in their 25M Grecian pool and then back in the Jacuzzi.  Just 10 minutes before our treatment time we took ourselves upstairs to await our treatment which was all part of the package.  After a really relaxing massage or facial we were taken to the relaxation area which has a number of beds in (some in the dark so that you can sleep) for you to relax further.

I ended up waking up five of the gang up as it was time for the buffet lunch which was lovely.  After another quick round of the facilities and it was time to get showered and changed ready to head off back to the train station to start our journeys home.

We said our goodbyes feeling very relaxed and chilled and agreeing that it had been a lovely couple of days.

Birmingham Xmas markets

The Ladies Friendship Group decided to visit the Birmingham Christmas Market.

After meeting up at the train station and admiring the refurbished New Street Station we decamped to Weatherspoons for some much needed fuel.

The markets were very not as busy as the weather was particular nasty and we didn’t think there were as many stalls as in previous years. Despite the awful weather we tried to make the most of the Christmas atmosphere.

We reluctantly decided to head back earlier planned due to the weather and were very disappointed that we didn’t have longer to spend enjoy the sounds, smells and tastes that the markets had to offer.  Better luck next year!!

Spa weekend

The weekend of 20th/21st November saw 5 ladies enjoy a Spa weekend at The Lions Quay Hotel & Spa which

is situated alongside the picturesque Llangollen Canal in the beautiful Shropshire Countryside.

Two of the ladies arrived by train at Gobowen station a short 5 minute drive away from the hotel and our weekend started in earnest.

We checked into the hotel and settled into our rooms which were very spacious and clean and comfortable.

Rachel texted her mum to say we were having a party in our room there was that much space.

After showering and putting our glad rags on ready for the evening entertainment we went downstairs to enjoy a complimentary glass of bubbly and were delighted to see we had our own table!  The room was decked out really well with lots of fairy lights giving the room a great atmosphere before we even started.  The set menu was lovely and the 4 bottles of house wine made the evening go with a swing!

The ABBA duo tribute act were brilliant.  It was only two people putting on the show but they were fantastic and got everyone up dancing and joining in and did all the old favourites ably helped out by us all!  A few of the other guests had really thrown themselves into the theme by dressing up in full 70’s gear!

We were one of the last groups to leave and went off to bed really tired but having had a really enjoyable evening.

The next morning we met up and had a buffet style breakfast. After a really relaxing massage we were taken to the relaxation area which has a number of beds in (some in the dark so that you can sleep) for you to relax further.

It was then time for the buffet lunch which was lovely.  We said goodbye to two of our group at this point reluctantly but promising we would do it again in the Spring and after another quick round of the facilities it was time to get showered and changed ready to head off back to the train station to start our journeys home.

We said our goodbyes feeling very relaxed and chilled and agreeing that it had been a lovely couple of days.

The weekend of 8th/9th May saw 4 ladies enjoy a Spa weekend at The Lions Quay Hotel & Spa which is situated alongside the picturesque Llangollen Canal in the beautiful Shropshire Countryside.

Three of the ladies arrived by train on a very wet Friday afternoon which didn’t show the countryside off to its best.  However, it did nothing to dampen our spirits at all.  I picked the ladies up from Gobowen station a short 5 minute drive away from the hotel and our weekend started in earnest.

We checked into the hotel and settled into our rooms which were very spacious and clean and comfortable.  It was then time to adjourn to the lounge for a much needed cuppa and catch up. We were going to look around the grounds but the weather conspired against us so we voted to stay put and relax.

After our refreshments we returned to our rooms to put our glad rags on ready for the evening entertainment.  We enjoyed a complimentary glass of bubbly and were delighted to see we had our own table right at the front!  The room was decked out really well with lots of fairy lights giving the room a great atmosphere before we even started.  The set menu was lovely and the 2 bottles of house wine even better!

The tribute act of Dirty Dancing / Grease was brilliant.  It was only two people putting on the show but they worked really hard and got everyone up dancing and joining in and did all the old favourites ably helped out by us all!

We were one of the last groups to leave and went off to bed really tired but having had a really enjoyable evening.

We said our goodbyes feeling very relaxed and chilled and agreeing that it had been a lovely couple of day which we need  to repeat again soon!

Ladies Meet up to visit the Birmingham Christmas Markets – November 2014
Hotdogs, chicken and squashed donoughts!!

The Ladies Friendship Group decided to visit the Birmingham Christmas Market to start their Christmas shopping and to get in the Christmas mood. After meeting up at the train station we decamped to Weatherspoons for some much needed fuel (most of us went for hotdogs or chicken!) before the fun started.

As we split up and enjoyed the markets every sense was assaulted by the sounds, smells, tastes of all that was on offer. The markets were very busy as it was the very first weekend but despite the crowds we had a great time soaking up the Christmas atmosphere. On the way back the train was so busy that Emma and I had to stand some of the way home – hence our donoughts were squashed by the time we got to sit doewn and eat them!

Ladies with TS meet up

On Saturday 21st June three of the group met up in Hereford for lunch and some retail therapy.

We started off at the train station in pouring rain and decided, due to the weather, that the best thing to do was to decamp for some lunch and a catch up session to put the worlds to right and wait for the weather to improve.

We went to Yates (a pub/restaurant) and located a table by the window and settled in for some much need refreshments and gossip.

Once we had put the worlds to right and had fuelled up we made our way to the new shopping centre.  By this time the sun had come out and it was really quite warm.  We went into the main high street for a quick look at the shops on our way through to the new shopping centre.

I was very impressed with what they have done there.  There is a new Odeon cinema and plenty of places to eat and drink.  There are still a few units that are empty.  It will be even better when they are full and the new centre has got established.

We stopped off in Debenhams for a cup of tea (and I had a cheeky muffin) before making our way back to the train station to say our goodbyes.

It was a lovely day, thank you so much Emma and Anne-marie for your company.

Look out in Aspects and on the web-site for the next meet up.  It has been suggested that we go to the Manchester Christmas markets later on in the year.

Ladies Meet up to visit the Birmingham Christmas Markets – November 2013

The Ladies Friendship Group decided to visit the Birmingham Christmas Market to start their Christmas shopping and to get in the Christmas mood.  We decamped to Weatherspoons for some much needed fuel before the fun started.

It was a beautiful, crisp winter day which only added the Christmas atmosphere.

Look out for future events coming up.

Ladies with TS trip to Cadbury World

Back in May a group of Ladies with TS travelled to Bournville Train Station and took the short walk, following the smell of chocolate and purple stickers, to visit Cadbury World.

We excitedly joined the queue to start the tour and were promptly given 3 lots of chocolate!  Not a bad start at all.  All our senses were attacked as we followed the tour learning about all the different stages and the history of all things chocolate and Cadbury World.  At certain points of the tour we were given little taster pots to try.

After the tour we hit the gift shop for a bit of retail therapy.  Some time later we came away having stocked up on lots of chocolate, old favourites and some new recipes to try.

We then took advantage of their on-site café to have something to eat and drink and were able to take some time out to catch up and chat, amongst other things, about the tour and our spoils from the shop.

After having a pit stop we finished off the day by enjoying “The Bournville Experience” where we learned about the Bournville Village and how it was created.

We then headed back to the train station to make our journeys home.

We all agreed it had been a fun chocolate day out!

Older ladies having fun!

After seeing how much fun the younger ladies were having when they met up altogether some of us older ladies decided that we wanted to have some fun as well!

So, we got together and decided we would arrange our own meet ups.

This group has only been going a very short time but we have enjoyed the Manchester Christmas Markets, lunch out in Birmingham and a chocolate day out at Cadbury World.

Suggestions for future meet ups would be very gratefully received.

The next meet up will be to enjoy the Christmas Market in Birmingham on Saturday 30th November 2013.
