The Durham and Newcastle friendship group met at Hartlepool on 7th January.

We had a really good turnout and the weather was very kind to us considering we were on the North East coast!!

We had 2 new visitors who we hope benefited from meeting some of us 'old hands'. Everybody enjoyed a pub meal on the marina and then either a look at the history of the Hartlepool monkey (!) or a mooch in the shops nearby.

A few of us stayed over at the Premier Inn on the Marina and enjoyed being spoilt rotten by local member Chelsea and her parents Anne and Stephen. We had a fantastic night with Stephen enjoying the company of 15 ladies!!

The following morning we had a long leisurely breakfast before us all going in different directions till the next time we meet.... which is to be guests of the Leeds group to join them walk in the park in Scarborough in June.

If you are interested please get in touch.

The Durham and Newcastle friendship group is planning to meet up:-

Sat 30th May 11.00 - 4.00 pm

Emmanuel Church, Macnay St Saltburn TS12 1LE.

Julie is organising a treasure hunt around this lovely town for those of us wishing to take part. It will include fish and chips for lunch! Also lots of coffee shops to sample on the way!

Lets hope we can have as good a turn out as last time......

Will you let me know if you are able join us. I am very confident it will be summer by then!

Just before Christmas, on the 20th of December last year, the Newcastle and Durham Friendship Group met for a chat and a bit of shopping in Sunderland. Christine Morrison had brought some home made mince pies (which were yummy!) and had organised Secret Santa.

For my family it was only the second time we had met with anyone from the TSSS so we were unsure of what to expect - the first time we'd met the Group was in November in Gateshead where Arlene had arranged for a couple of fabulous doctor speakers to come and talk. Everyone who came to the Sunderland meeting was very generous in the sharing of their experiences and it was very humbling to hear some of the stories. In the end we were nearly 20 of all ages, some who were already good friends and had met many times before.

For us, it was less than a year ago that we first heard the words Turner Syndrome and it has come as a relief. Angela is 7 and we now understand her so much better! The Group and TSSS have been a huge source of medical knowledge and emotional support. For Angela it is great to meet older girls and women who are good role models, as well as girls her own age with whom she can build a lasting friendship.

Thank you all who came to the meeting. We are planning to meet again on a Saturday March in Saltburn, but it is still being arranged so keep an eye on the TSSS UK Durham and Newcastle Friendship Group on facebook or on the TSSS web page for Groups and we'll post the date and place there.

The Durham and Newcastle friendship group is planning to meet up sometime before Christmas north of the Tyne.

But, due to everybody’s work and family commitments it’s proving quite difficult to organise.... So, we thought a Sunday tea time may be quite nice on Sunday 1st December 2013.  The venue is just north of the Tyne in Corbridge. Northumberland... MASSEYS TRADITIONAL TEA ROOM. Middle St. Corbridge, NE45 5AT.

There will be lots of tea and cakes and time for a good chat.

Let’s meet at 4pm. Hope friends old and new can join us.

We are a fairly new group of friends …all with one thing in common. TS!

The aim of the group is to try and bring local people together…all of us affected by TS in one way or another.

We have Ladies, girls, mums, dads, sisters and even an auntie!!

Meetings are every few weeks and we try to spread ourselves around the region.

We have met up in Consett, Hartlepool, Metro Centre, and most recently in North Shields.

We must visit Northumberland before Christmas!

One of our members Debbie, is a pharmacist in Boots Gateshead and she has tirelessly promoted TS awareness and our fabulous society in her store.

Many of us will hopefully meet up at Conference in October, but for those who cant manage we plan to head up North to the Morpeth area for a festive chat!

One of our consultants Dr Debbie Matthews from the RVI Newcastle has kindly offered to give us some of her time and join us at one of our meetings for a question and answer session. Something for us all to look forward to.

We have an event organised  for Sat 28 Sept in Shotley  Bridge Co Durham.

It is a fashion show of a century of wedding dresses…

so interesting …

The whole evening is in aid of TSSS

Details either on our FB page or TSSS website.
